And the elder replied: “A man’s silence is not empty, but full of prayer. It has no voice of words, yet it has the voice of the heart. When a man is silent toward the world and speaks only with God, his silence becomes a cry louder than any word, for heaven is not moved by noise, but by a pure heart. So it is with friendship in Christ: it does not need to be shouted in the marketplace nor praised by people; it is silent, yet in its silence it prays and sacrifices, and thus its cry reaches the throne of God.”

The elder said: “Friendship in Christ is like the light of the moon — it does not have the fire of the sun, yet it makes the night no longer dark.”
The brother, not fully understanding, asked: “How can light without fire drive away the darkness?”
